Noah "40" Shebib, Drake's Go-To Producer...
I talk a lot of shit about Drake and his music, but I’ll be the first to admit that almost every song he’s done with 40 is good money. At least sonically. I may not identify with or co-sign the sentiments (and singing) that Drake is expressing on said tracks (case in point, ‘Marvin’s Room’ - that shit is for the birds), but the shit sounds right.
Basically, 40 is largely responsible for the aural aesthetic that most of us associate with Drake - the filter if you will. That said, I’d suggest that when Drake is going for a proper club banger, he should try to limit 40’s role because the latter is clearly an expert at more subdued kinds of music as opposed to the racous shit that really gets the ladies going. Sometimes, you just need to indulge your inner bamma and 40 ain’t that kinda producer. But what do I know? I’m just a nigga with a keyboard paying off these loans.
