Song of the Day: Juicy J - Deez Bitches Rollin’ feat. SpaceGhostPurrp & Speakz…
I said this a long time ago, but Juicy J has had one hell of a year. For a good minute, Juiceman was my 2011 MVP and he’s still near the top if only for the collection of ignorance masquerading as a mixtape he released with Lex Luger earlier this year (Rubberband Business 2). Obviously, Juicy J isn’t winning any morality, responsibility or lyricism contests, but no one made trippier music this year - drugged-out, goon-friendly, pro-stripper, pro-ho, pro-snowbunny, anti-lame, weekend hyping music. Juiceman was in the zone on RBB2.
So it’s no surprise that the 28 track follow-up to a 26 track mixtape lacks the same verve and energy. The songs on his newest set, ‘Blue Dream & Lean’, aren’t bad by any stretch of the imagination, but Juicy J couldn’t maintain the elaborate hilarity of his blissed out qoonery. Not that he didn’t try, but qooning ain’t easy on wax. It takes a special mix for that shit to work. Nonetheless, there are a few gems on ‘BL&D’ and this is one of them. Probably the best song on this shit - the other contender would be ‘She Dancin’. I wouldn’t be mad at Juicy J and SpaceghostPurrp getting together for an entire project - the chemistry is there. Then again, I’ve heard SPG yelling ‘Fuck Taylorgang’, so who knows about that. In any event, Speakz actually steals the show by virtue of displaying the best technique on the track, but the vulgarity from the other demented pair is nothing to sneeze at.
