It’s funny how you “remember” to check on some these rappers that had their moments back in the day. I think I was reading an article about some other more relevant cat and an old link to a Jay-Z interview had the camel describing Peedi Crakk as “psychotic” with a straight face. Which in turn led to an article in which Peedi admitted that he fucked up his opportunity and revealed that he once burned through $900K Rocafella and Def Jam’s money like it was nothing and without producing an album. ROFL. Nigga shit. Maybe the camel was right about Peedi’s mental state, because as one commenter put it “I’d kill a nigga that owed me $20 and this nigga outchea talmbout he spent $900K of Jay & Dame’s money.” Ha! Then he went away and did a bunch of bids. What the fuck is wrong with you Philadelphians?
Nevertheless, Peedi has always had one of the dopest flows in the game and I’ve always wanted to hear more from him, but obviously he’s been occupied with some other shit. Thankfully, he just dropped a new mixtape last week (Crakk Files Vol. 4 - I missed the 1st 3) and I gotta tell you, it’s pretty darned good. He goes in over a variety of new and old shit. Some original beats and some over newer shit of the moment.
Which reminds of how Peedi popped back into my world. Pause. I was watching a soccer video on Youtube (some Arsenal youth teamer decided to leave and I wanted to figure out what we lost - kid was NICE) and the soundtrack had Peedi destroying French Montana’s ‘Shot Caller’ beat (then again, anyone could do better over that shit than that dusty immigrant fuck) and 2 + 2 equals “Peedi must have some new shit out.” So yeah. I’m not sure if the first paragraph of this shit is true anymore. Whatever.
Anyway, the mixtape is hella good and Peedi crushes the ‘Niggas In Paris’ beat along with Young Chris. They even added some new elements to the beat. Everything is just so damn excellent. I know you all have your year-end lists set (lazy fucks - so Jeezy and Common don’t deserve a chance either?), but Peedi deserves a fresh listen.
Go get ‘Crakk Files Vol. 4’. Like syphillis, it’s free and it’s good.
