Freddie Gibbs - Menace II Society feat. DOM Kennedy & Polyester…
Off ‘Cold Day In Hell’. Tragically, we’re in that bone chillin’ period of the year. This song would have made the perfect summer single, but alas. However, it’s nice that Gibbs shot a video for it anyway. Fewer things annoy me more than rappers making single quality songs and just burying them on albums without any promo at all (the labels probably deserve more blame for this). There are a million rap songs that should have been minor hits (at least) if only someone thought to push em a bit. In this instance, Cardo put his fucking foot in that beat, Freddie/Polyester have great chemistry on the hooks and bridges and Dom Kennedy doesn’t sound outta place at all on this pure West coast styled banger (always a risk for anyone rapping with Gibbs).
Anyway, as expected ‘CDH’ is still my favorite thing to listen to in 2011. In a sense, ‘CDH’ and ‘TM103’ are mirror images on each other: both happen to be the most accessible work each artist has released to date without compromising what their core fans liked in the first place.
Freddie’s also making news for a much more infamous reason than a new video. He tweeted some shit about TSA agents letting him keep his weed during a flight and there’s a whole mess about it on all sorts of blogs. I think I even saw a link to Perez Hilton. Lol.
Any buzz is good buzz for Gangsta Gibbs. It’s nice to see a talented artist on the cusp of winning in this shitty industry…

Dude, I saw that TSA post early this morning from the Newsweek Tumblr. I still have it in my likes. I don’t even think they realized it was hip hop related.
