Future - Magic (with The Roots Live on Fallon)…
This is one of those cases where everyone involved would probably have been better off with a backing track as opposed to live instrumentation. What they did here was crazy nice, but songs like this and ‘Same Damn Time’ weren’t meant to EVER sound this classy. EVER.
In short, you gotta let a coon be a coon. No shots.
Imagine ‘Racks’ getting The Roots treatment. No bueno bruh!
For a national TV debut, these white folks need to respeckognize the full spectrum of the head nod and shoulder lean power of Future’s bamma hit-making genius and live instrumentation isn’t the way to get that Sonny Digital snap out of them.
Now I know you’re wondering “why mobbdeen stanning for Future?” Nah, I ain’t stanning for Future. Thing is, unlike many of the other coons (that will remain unnamed and unslandered in this particular post), I can understand how and why Future exists in rap. That understanding allows me to appreciate him somewhat, even if I’ve never understood anything he’s ever said outside of a hook. Yep. That’s it. THE HOOKS. The man makes catchy-ass hooks to go with fun bamma music that has an edge. I may not support it with my wallet, but I appreciate it enough not to resent it and even actually enjoy it while I spray my undersized paychecks on oversized body parts. Plus, as weird as this sounds, he brings something that sounds different to the scene with that weird, undecipherable drawl that he calls a delivery. It just kinda works. *Shrug*
Besides, he’s part of the Dungeon Family. 2nd generation - not quite as genius, but Dungeon Fam nonetheless. Bonafides like that still matter to some of us. *Shrug* And he’s been contributing to good ass songs for a long minute (did you know that he worked on Luda’s ‘Blueberry Yum Yum’ all those years ago AND HE WROTE ‘RACKS’ - arguably the best coon anthem of the last 5 years!), so I kinda figured that his ascent was inevitable.
That said, I’ll be the first to admit that any time I attempt to actually listen to his “verses”, I cringe at how awful they might be. It really helps that I can’t understand him at all, because when I do… you know what? Let’s just move on and be thankful for life. It ain’t that serious. *More Shrugging*
I’m actually looking forward to hearing ‘Pluto’ on April 17th. I got this nice, cushy seat at the back of the bandwagon. Finna live a little and enjoy this trip.
OH. AND GUESS WHAT:
