Can’t be sure. I suppose it depends on flow and cadence. There’s a good chance that an a-capella track will sound like shit if the artist tailored his flow to a unique beat then someone decided to isolate the vocals. That could be what happened with the no-production mix you got.
Personally, I don’t care for a-capella shit. GTFOH with that poetry shit…
