New Shit: ZZ Ward - Criminal (feat. Freddie Gibbs)…
My reason for running into this shit is immediately obvious to anyone who has scrolled through more than one page of this tumblr, but I’m pleasantly surprised by this ZZ Ward lady. I really dig her voice. Real powerful vocals from a little woman. I’m hearing some Adele and maybe some Joss Stone. Her voice so bomb. Dunno about the name though.
I might have to fuck with the rest of this project and see what she’s hittin’ fo. It certainly helps that she has decent taste in rap - not only is Gangsta Gibbs on the project, so is Kendrick Lamar (more on him in a day or two). These guys seem to be choices 1a and 1b for best rapper working in 2012 among the folks I respect when it comes to evaluating rap/rappers.
ZZ Ward’s project is called ‘Til The Casket Drops’ and it should be at least as good as the similarly named Clipse album, since that shit was kinda weak. It just dropped too. I think I’ll give it whirl.
Never hurts to find some new music the ladies won’t mind listening to in a pinch. You can only get away with full renditions of ‘Money Clothes Hoes’ a few times before they start trippin. I gotta start dating hoodrats again…
